Another day, another adventure to be had.

Museum’s and Birthday Parties January 26, 2009

This weekend was full of lots of fun stuff to do. Too bad the weekend is almost over because all of us could of used a few more days of down time.

On Saturday, we went with my mom (grandma) to the Children’s Museum at Seattle Center. It was the opening day of their Curious George exhibit and boy was there a lot of people. There was also a Chinese New Year’s celebration going on as well in the center house so lots of excitement to be had. Ethan was a whirlwind in the museum, trying to play on everything. He especially liked one of the Curious George areas that had desk doors that he could actually open and close without getting caught by his parents.

On Sunday two of the kids from Ethan’s daycare were celebrating their third birthday’s and we headed to a party at Jump Planet.  It is basically a big indoor gym with huge inflatable playgrounds and slides. Ethan especially loved the biggest slide they had there and even went down by himself a few times. It definitely was a good workout for us as well since we had to carry him up the inflatable stairs several times. I see a possibly party location for Ethan’s birthday parties in the future.

And currently as I am writing this entry the snow is coming down. Who knows? Maybe we’ll be stranded at home tomorrow.

The sun finally decided to make an appearance in the Seattle area after several weeks of dreary and yucky weather. Ethan and I both took advantage of the sunshine and Jeff thought about taking advantage but spent the weekend ill in bed unfortunately.

Ethan and I headed to North Bend on Saturday to go to the Factory Outlet Mall. Since Ethan has been growing like a weed he is now into the 24 mnth/2T size so it was time to get some new clothes. We drove the long distance up to North Bend starting out in the fog but as soon as we started to climb the pass we were in blue sky and sun territory. It was such a nice surprise since it had looked so dismal at home that morning. Unfortunately Ethan decided that it was not a shopping day since we only made it into Carter’s. As soon as we were at the cash register he decided shopping was just not his thing. He screamed until we left the store and as soon as we were outside he was an angel. But when I tried to make a stop into Gymboree and he saw the clothing he immediately went into melt down mode. Luckily I had gotten everything I needed to get at Carter’s so the trip was still successful. After North Bend we went home and Ethan took a nap and then we headed to the playground in Woodinville. This is a great playground for the young ones since they have lots of little kid swings and slides which is Ethan’s favorite.

Today I did yard work which was not that exciting and made me want to cut my neighbors tree down because of all the leaves that is deposited in our yard. After that, it was off roller blading on the Birk Gillman trail. What a nice day it was. We definitely need a few more days of this after the yucky weather we have had.

This morning after getting up and looking at our lovely Seattle rain outside we decided to get dressed and head to the Children’s Museum at the Seattle Center. We had been once before but Ethan was a little younger the last time we went and a new walker it was hard for him to get around. This time, it was a whole other story. He shot off at a running pace right when we got there, exploring everything. Mostly he was attracted to the large play vehicles which have lots of steering wheels and button to play with. We stayed for a couple of hours and watched him go from one room to another and then back to the previous room trying to figure out what he wanted to play with or explore next. It was lots of fun but then started to get a little crowded with all of the kids birthday parties that seemed to be going on today. We had a great time and we even purchased a year membership so that we can go many more times in the future.

Short and sweet update… January 9, 2009

Now that I am finally recovering from getting back into the work groove I have a few minutes for a new blog entry. We have been dealing with the weather in our area pretty well, especially since we live on a hill. Luckily the water situation in the area has not hit us, however construction crews are out doing a ton of work on the streets surrounding our house which looks like it has some drainage problems.

But I know that you all read our blog to find out what Ethan’s been up to. He finally got to go back to daycare after two and a half weeks of hanging out with mom and dad at home. He was so excited to go back that he screamed with excitement as soon as he entered their house and ran straight to his favorite toys. It was nice to see that we at least picked a good daycare that he enjoys going to. He has also become more interested in what is happening around him, mostly the television. He now pays attention more to shows on tv so we now have to be careful of what we are watching when he is in the room. Ethan is also picking up a lot more sayings and words and it seems like he learns a new one every day. His new one is Minme which is Bindi.

That’s about it for the time being. I hope that everyone is surviving the weather. Maybe if we all think sunshine Spring will arrive sooner. ;)
