Jeff, Susi, & Ethan’s Blog

Another day, another adventure to be had.

Back from Hawaii September 30, 2008

Jeff and I returned from Hawaii yesterday and boy are we exhausted. I would of wrote about our trip yesterday but I barely had the energy to eat dinner yesterday. We took a red eye flight back on Sunday night that ended up being three hours late so we got home yesterday morning at 7 AM. Other than that, Hawaii was awesome. Below are some of the highlights and photos to boot. :)

Tuesday: We arrived on Maui in the evening and went straight to the house, then we all went and ate dinner at the Aloha Mixed Plate which has local food entrees. Very delicious and the drinks were fantastic.

Wednesday: Woke up extremely early since we were not accustomed to the time change yet and went to breakfast at a local place in town. We ate some Macadamia Nut pancakes and sweet bread french toast. Yummy. This day we just hung around the house by the pool all day and read. Very relaxing.

Thursday: We ventured into the world of Scuba Diving. Actually Jeff ventured into the wold of Scuba Diving. I on the other hand made it down about ten feet and realized that my ears were not really meant for it that day, too much pressure and I was not able to pop them. Jeff made it down to twenty feet and had a great time seeing the underwater sea life. I will hopefully try it again in the future. After our Scuba Diving activity we ventured back to the house and a company came in and gave us massages. Best massage ever!

Friday: This was my favorite day of all. We took surfing lessons on this day and boy was it fun. Jeff didn’t partake in the surfing lessons but hung out on the beach and watched the surfers in action. I was actually able to get up and ride almost all of the waves. I did wipe out on one wave and the instructor said that I experienced the human washing machine which indeed I did. I had a great time surfing and definitely plan on doing it again. I think Jeff is a little surprised that his wife can surf. In the evening we ventured to a Luau “Feast at LeLe“. I would recommend this luau for anyone going to Maui. Lot’s of fun!

Saturday: Jeff and I ventured to the Beach at the Sheraton on Maui. You can park in the parking garage that is connected to the hotel and then walk from there to the amazing beach. There is quite a few people who hang out on this beach but they have some fantastic snorkeling if you go all the way to the right next to the black lava rocks. We saw lots of different types of fish and there was also a sea turtle that was hanging out in the water as well. It was pretty funny because it was first swimming along the beach between people’s legs and they didn’t even see it there.

Sunday: This was our last day on Maui and before we left for the airport we ventured to the Maui Ocean Center. This is a large aquarium that you can walk through that also has a huge shark tank as well as a tunnel that you can walk through where sharks and rays are swimming over your head. If you do not like to snorkel or scuba dive but want to see fish this would be the place for you.

If you look closely you can see me riding a wave.

At this time next week Jeff and I will be relaxing on a beach on Maui. It just hit me this morning as I was talking with a co-worker that I will be on vacation this time next week. Yippee! I cannot wait to drink Pina Colada’s and Mai Tai’s while hanging out by the pool all day. Plus, I may be getting the chance to learn to surf while we are there as well which is AWESOME!

This is where we will be staying on Maui.

Yesterday Jeff’s work took us all to the Puyallup Fair for the afternoon. The weather was perfect and we had a great time. We ate a ton of bad but good food. Since the fair happens once a year its ok. ;) Ethan also got a blowup Sponge Bob Square Pants doll and won a big stuffed red crayon. Next year he’ll be 2 so he will actually be able to go on the rides which I am sure he will love.

I’ve always wanted to do an old time photo and yesterday we had the chance. The results are below. Enjoy!

La Conner, Washington September 15, 2008

Since the Seahawks were playing today, that meant a day of single momdom. So instead of spending the day by ourselves Ethan and I headed up to La Conner to meet up with my dad for the day. The drive up was great since the sun was shining and Ethan fell asleep right when we got in the car. When we arrived in La Conner we headed to the La Conner Tavern for lunch of grilled cheese and fish and chips. After lunch we toured around the quaint town and watched the boats float by. It was the perfect Northwest September summer days.

This morning Jeff, Ethan, Bindi, and I went to Sandpoint today to Magnusun Park to participate in the annual PAWS walk. We got there about twenty minutes before the walk started and boy was it crowded. They had a bunch of construction going on to the trails so it was a little bit of an obstacle course but luckily we brought along the jogging stroller. We even got to stop off at the playground before heading home.

*You can also get a glimpse of Ethan’s new haircut as well!

H&M Opening Dates for University Village and Downtown Seattle. September 5, 2008

As some of you know, I am a big fan of the H&M retail stores. My main experience with H&M has been when I have gotten to travel to New York for work. I was always able to find fantastic clothing at exceptional prices. So when the South Center one opened up I was extremely excited about it and had a chance to visit the store when my sister was up visiting. I have to say that I was slightly disappointed with the selection when I first entered the store. The bottom floor was like a time warp back to the 80’s but once I got upstairs I was pleasantly surprised with the selection but not enough that it would make me drive down again to South Center just to venture there.

I have heard though that the Seattle stores will have a different selection of clothing to the ones that are similar to New York and Europe. And a plus is that these are closer to where I live. Below are the opening dates for the two additional Washington Locations and the opening dates are approaching quickly.

H&M at University Village Opens Friday September 12th. *First 200 shoppers get a H&M t-shirt and a gift card up to $250.

H&M at Pike in Downtown Seattle Opens Thursday the 18th. *First 300 shoppers get a H&M t-shirt and a gift card up to $250.

If you are close to either of those locations and are looking for a stylish bargain I highly recommend that you check them out.

As a note to those with children, the only H&M that offers children/teen clothing is the one at South Center. The other two locations are adult clothing.

Happy Shopping!

Ethan has now decided to move into the world of walking. It has been an interesting process to watch since he started to take more than a few steps on Friday. He is now taking more and more steps but has not quite figured out how to stand up without the assistance of the wall or coffee table yet but he is great at the downward dog yoga pose. It is funny to see him walking because he puts his arms out to the sides for balance.

I have a feeling in the next couple of weeks we will have our hands full with a running child.

I will try this weekend to get some video footage of his new walking abilities but usually when I bring out the camera he decides he likes crawling instead.

And here is a video of Ethan in action. Enjoy!
