So I’ll take my first crack at writing a post on this thing instead of letting Susi get all the glory (especially when the blog gets optioned for a book and a movie deal).
The big issue we are currently dealing with is teething, he has two little teeth pointing through – bottom row, right in the front. What is particularly difficult with this are the symptoms that come with it: lots of drool, stuffy nose, coughing. Basically teething looks like a cold. Our poor little guy does great during the day aside from a runny nose we have to stay on top of, but at night things get the better of him. He frequently wakes himself up coughing and he can’t breathe through his nose. We can’t elevate him because the material we would use would cause a suffocation hazard and he moves around so much at night that he would just end up at the bottom of the slope anyway.
Don’t get me wrong – I think in comparison we are really lucky. He has gotten pretty good and putting himself back to sleep most of the time. On average I only need to soothe him back to sleep once a night, but that 3am – 4am time period when he seems to need me most often, is an ungodly hour that no person should be up for. So here is to hoping that the teeth arrive soon and then everyone in the house can rest easier.
NIce work Susi! What a break through!
